Vintage Large Green Glass Demijohn in Wicker Basket

Description

A demijohn is a large, narrow-neck glass bottle used for the transport of wine.  To protect it from breaking during shipping, it was encased in a wicker basket.  The ripples and bubbles that would have occurred during production are typical for its age and manufacture.  It is molded in two pieces and there is a light line where the sections join together.  The color is an attractive sea green.  It measures 25" high and has a circumference of about  57".  The opening measures 1 3/4".   It weighs approximately 21 pounds.  It is in good condition with no chips or cracks.  There is cardboard top on the basket that says "STOCK" and also a tag that says Erie Liquor, Buffalo, New York
